There are many people who could benefit from orthodontic treatment but choose not to get it because they don’t like the way braces look. While we think braces look great, we understand that they are not within everyone’s comfort zone. Because of this, we offer Invisalign. While this option isn’t for everyone, most mild to moderate problems can easily be correct with this system. To find out if you are a candidate, schedule your complementary consultation.
What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a system that uses plastic aligners instead of metal brackets and wires to straighten teeth. These aligners are custom-designed to place strategic pressure on the teeth, allowing them to move quickly and easily. You handle the adjustments instead of coming into the office; all you need to do is swap out the current aligner for the next aligner in the series every two weeks.
Why Should I Choose Invisalign?
What are the main reasons people put off orthodontic treatment? We already covered one: the way it looks. As Invisalign is invisible, no one will know you are in treatment. Another reason people shy away from treatment is that braces demand you change your diet and how you brush and floss. But not Invisalign. Since it is removable, you can go on as you always have. Finally, many people worry that braces are uncomfortable, and they can be, but Invisalign is not. The smooth plastic ensures that everything is comfortable and you do not end up with sore tissues from it rubbing against them.
How Does It Work?
The aligners are made to place pressure on specific teeth based on the quickest way to complete treatment. Each aligner changes the pressure, furthering treatment. Over time, the teeth move into the desired position and active treatment ends. You see Dr. Ferrer ever 6 weeks and change your aligners every two weeks. Most treatment lasts about 15 months.
Is There Anything Else I should Know About Invisalign?
Here at Westside Orthodontics, we scan all of our Invisalign patients with the iTero digital scanner, allowing you to skip uncomfortable impressions. We also use a 3D CBCT scan to ensure our diagnosis is as accurate as possible. Finally, if you want to speed up your treatment time, we offer you the option of using AcceleDent in conjunction with Invisalign to speed up treatment.
